What Will the Church Do in Christ’s Kingdom?

Answer: It will be Christ and the church’s responsibility to raise out mankind from Adamic condemnation and the penalty of death, teach mankind righteousness, lead them up the highway of holiness back to perfection and harmony with God and then judge mankind worth of everlasting life by the end of Christ’s earthly kingdom.

The first step is to raise man out of death as Jesus said in John 5:28-29 (NASB): “Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, (29) and will come forth; … those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.” This resurrection of judgement will teach mankind righteousness and then judge him according to his efforts obey the righteousness he is taught.

When mankind is raised from the dead, he will healed of all his physical ailments. John tells us about the healing in Rev. 20:4 (NASB): “He [God through Christ and the church] will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Isaiah writes in Isa. 33:24 (NASB) that: “No resident will say, ‘I am sick’; The people who dwell there will be forgiven their iniquity.” This physical healing will occur because man’s sins are forgiven. The healing will make it possible for man’s character and heart to be healed bringing them back to perfection and harmony with God.

This resurrection of judgement is described in more detail in Rev. 20:12-13 (NASB) “And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.” The books that are opened teach mankind righteousness  and if man is obedient in Christ’s kingdom, then his name if written in the book of life.

Jesus described this resurrection of judgment in Matt. 25:31-32 (NASB): “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. (32)  All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.” Mankind will be judged for life or destruction based on their love for one another and their willingness to help one another in Christ’s kingdom. (Matt. 25:34-46). The sheep were willing to help others and as a result, they will receive everlasting life. The goats were unwilling to help others and as a result, they will receive everlasting destruction.

It will be Christ and the church making this judgment as Jesus described in Matt. 19:28 (NASB): “Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
